CHILDREN: WEEK 52 (2/19-2/25): ROMAN 6-10; 1SAMUEL 7-12
1Samual 7
1. What was the only way that the Israelites can be delivered from the hands of the Philistines?
a. v3 And Samuel said to the whole house of Israel, "If you are returning to the LORD with all your hearts, then rid yourselves of the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths and commit yourselves to the LORD and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines."
2. When the Philistines came out to attack the Israelites, what did they do?
a. And when the Israelites heard of it, they were afraid because of the Philistines. 8 They said to Samuel, "Do not stop crying out to the LORD our God for us, that he may rescue us from the hand of the Philistines."
3. What do you do when you are in troubles?
4. Did God help the Israelites? What did God do?
a. v10 While Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to engage Israel in battle. But that day the LORD thundered with loud thunder against the Philistines and threw them into such a panic that they were routed before the Israelites. v11 The men of Israel rushed out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, slaughtering them along the way to a point below Beth Car.

1. What did the elders of Israel want?
a. v6 But when they said, "Give us a king to lead us,"
2. Why the Israelites asking for a king was displeasing to God?
a. v7 And the LORD told him: "Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king….They have rejected God to rule than and wanted to replace with a human.
3. After Samuel has told them the consequence of having a king, did they change their mind?
a. v19 But the people refused to listen to Samuel. "No!" they said. "We want a king over us.
4. When your parents gives you advice and show you the consequences of your behavior, how should you react?
1Samual 9
1. Describe how Saul looked like?
a. 2 He had a son named Saul, an impressive young man without equal among the Israelites--a head taller than any of the others.
2. How did Samuel know who was the man was to be king?
a. 17 When Samuel caught sight of Saul, the LORD said to him, “This is the man I spoke to you about; he will govern my people.” God talked to Samuel all the time and he listed.
3. God may be talking to you through whisper of the Holy Spirit or the bible or your parents, did you hear Him and obey Him?
a. Maybe it is time to turn off that iPod so that you can hear his whisper. God usually speak in a soft voice.
1Samual 10
1. What did Samuel do to anoint Saul as king?
a. 1 Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on Saul's head and kissed him
2. What did happen when the Spirit of the Lord came upon Saul?
a. v6 The Spirit of the LORD will come upon you in power, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.
3. Are you a different person since the Holy Spirit lives in you today like He did in Saul?
4. What else that God changed in Saul before he became a king?
a. V9 As Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed Saul's heart, and all these signs were fulfilled that day.
5. Pray for a changed heart in you, so that God can use you.
1Samual 11
1. V6 When Saul heard their words, the Spirit of God came upon him in power, and he burned with anger. Is it right to get angry? When is it ok to get angry?
a. Anger is allowed only for righteous purpose (eg: someone dishonored God or seeing someone being bullied or treated unjustly). It is never ok to get angry for sinful or selfish purpose.
2. What was Saul response to the people who wanted to destroy the Israelites who didn’t want Saul to be the king?
a. v13 But Saul said, "No one shall be put to death today, for this day the LORD has rescued Israel." Saul choose to forgive them.
3. Who do you have in mind now that have offended you and you have not yet forgive that person? Forgive him or her now, for God have forgiven you.
1Samual 12
1. When Samuel asked, “v3 Here I stand. Testify against me in the presence of the LORD and his anointed. Whose ox have I taken? Whose donkey have I taken? Whom have I cheated? Whom have I oppressed? From whose hand have I accepted a bribe to make me shut my eyes? If I have done any of these, I will make it right.", what was the Israelites response?
a. v4 "You have not cheated or oppressed us," they replied. "You have not taken anything from anyone's hand."
2. Can you ask the same question that Samuel asked? Ask anyone in your family (or friends) if you have been honest to them? What do you think their response will be?
3. What would happen to the Israelites if they do not obey the LORD, and if they rebel against His commands?
a. V15… his hand will be against you, as it was against your fathers.
4. What warning that Samuel gave the Israelites?
a. V24 But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you. 25 Yet if you persist in doing evil, both you and your king will be swept away."
Roman 6
1. Can Jesus Christ die again?
a. v9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.
2. What did Christ died to, who does Christ live for now?
a. v10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.
3. What we should not offer our body to?
a. v13 Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness
4. What we should offer our body to?
a. V13…offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness.
5. Who is your master now? Sin or God? Why?
a. v14 For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.
6. What is the punishment (wages) for sin? But what would God give instead for those who believe in Him?
a. v23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Roman 7
1. What is the law of God for?
a. V7…Indeed I would not have known what sin was except through the law. V12…the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good. The law tells us we are sinner.
2. If we know the law is good, why are we still doing sinful things?
a. v16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. v17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.
Roman 8
1. If I am in Christ Jesus, will I be condemned for my sin?
a. 1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,
2. What has set me free from the law of sin and death?
a. 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.
3. God sent His Son to be what? Why it has to be done this way?
a. V3…God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, v4 in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us,…
4. What does a person with a sinful mind do?
a. v6 The mind of sinful man is death,…v7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. v8 Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.
5. What does a person with a Spirit controlled mind do?
a. V6…the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace…
6. What is the difference between a person with Christ living in him or without Christ?
a. V9…And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. v10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. v11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.
7. Before Spirit lives in you, you are a slave to fear. But when the Spirit lives in you, what is your status now with God?
a. 15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ""Abba," Father." 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.
8. What does God do to those He predestined to be saved?
a. V30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
9. What will God give to those who trust Him?
a. 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
10. What can separate you from the love of God?
a. v38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, v39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Roman 9
1. How does God make His decision?
a. v15 For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." v16 It does not, therefore, depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy. God choose to do what He decided, no other influence.
2. Do you know when you decided to believe in Jesus, it was God who has chosen you and adopted you as son or daughter? How does that make you feel?
a. Honor (or being chosen), loved (for being adopted), thankful (for being paid by Jesus life), hopeful (for seeing Jesus again)
Roman 10
1. If you are not sure you are saved by Jesus, what can you do to be saved?
a. v9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
b. v13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
2. Since you are now a believer in Christ, what about your friends and family who have not heard the good news of Jesus?
a. 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. You are to tell them Jesus and how to be saved.
